Ledger.com/Start® | Starting Up Your Device - Ledger®

Official step-by-step setup guide to initialize, secure, and start using your Ledger hardware wallet.

Welcome to Ledger.com/Start

The Ledger.com/Start portal is your official entry point for setting up any Ledger hardware wallet, including the Ledger Nano X and Ledger Nano S Plus. Ledger provides one of the most trusted hardware solutions for storing cryptocurrencies securely offline. This setup process ensures your private keys never leave your device.

Step 1 — Unbox and Verify Authenticity

When you receive your Ledger device, ensure the package is sealed and untampered. Every official Ledger product has a unique cryptographic verification process to confirm authenticity when connected to Ledger Live. Never use a second-hand device or accept one that arrives pre-configured.

Step 2 — Download and Install Ledger Live

Go to Ledger.com/Start and download Ledger Live for your operating system (Windows, macOS, or Linux). Ledger Live is the official companion app that manages your assets, firmware updates, and transactions securely through the hardware wallet connection.

Step 3 — Initialize Your Ledger Device

⚠️ Never share your recovery phrase with anyone. Ledger support or any website will never ask for it.

Step 4 — Add Crypto Accounts and Secure Access

Once your device is initialized, open Ledger Live to add accounts for Bitcoin, Ethereum, and other supported assets. All private keys stay inside your hardware wallet — even when you sign transactions, only verified data passes between Ledger Live and your device.
